Handbook For Scroungers!

...a guide for beginners and an inspiration for the rest of us!

An Adi Photoshop?

But of course:

Today I made a start on Youngest's claim for Income Support (for my German readers that's 'Hartz IV'). As I haven't done one for a while I thought I'd better just gen up on any changes to the law and system. Went onto the Directgov site and found something called the BENEFITS ADVISOR.

Its an online interactive guide on how to fill out their forms to get the maximum amount of money out of them. And its brilliant.

I pride myself on my form filling but thought I'd try it out just for Shit and Giggles. I answered the questions for Youngest's claim and it promptly told me that he would have gotten ₤Nothing! I then edited some of the answers and still got the 'no benefits claimable' message. Finally I realised which answers I had given were wrong and then it told me he might get ₤LOAD$ a week. There was one single box I hadn't ticked. Just one.

If I had filled in the form without using the Benefits Advisor first then his claim would have been rejected and I could have spent the next fortnight battling, appealing and providing proof.

Thank you Directgov.
